Istanbul

Did you know that Istanbul was once Constantinople? If you knew that, well did you know that it has changed its name and basically heritage about three different times? It was Byzantine in 700 B.C (Greek), it transferred hands about 1000 years later and the Romans renamed it Constantinople. Then it was fought over by Arabs, crusaders (who won initially), and Turks (who sieged and sacked the crusaders). The Turks named it Istanbul and made it the capital of the Ottoman empire.

Bits and pieces of its interesting history can be spotted all over the city. Imagine visiting sites that hold intricate details of the interesting life the city has lived. A modern and vibrant city, with cultures and landmarks spanning thousands of years.

The city is absolutely beautiful. One of its major tourist attractions is the Bosphorus view. This divides the city’s European from its Asian sides.

Additionally, there are river rides to view waterfront mansions from the Ottoman empire and palaces from the Byzantine era.

As for the diversity there, well it is rumored that Napoleon said that Istanbul would be the capital of the world, if the world was a single country. That is the best way to describe the assortment of cultures, cuisines, and fun activities in Istanbul.

Quite simply, both by history and modern layout, Istanbul is beautiful and must be seen at least once!…
